Microsoft Fixes Critical Word Flaw in October Patch Tuesday

Microsoft fixed 20 vulnerabilities across seven updates in October’s Patch Tuesday release. The company also released its long-promised update on how it handles digital certificates.

Microsoft released one critical bulletin addressing a flaw in Microsoft Word and six other bulletins addressing issues in Microsoft Works, SQL Server, SharePoint, and the Windows operating system, the company said in its Patch Tuesday advisory. Microsoft will also be re-releasing a few bulletins from earlier in the year to address clerical issue to fix the time stamps associated with the patches. The patches haven’t changed, so administrators who’ve already applied the patches won’t see any security impact from the re-release. (Read more)
